OceanGuard™ Ballast Water Treatment System adopts Advanced Oxidation Processes technology, also called AOP technology. And the AOP technology is a patented method of water treatment. OceanGuard™ Ballast Water Treatment System removes bacteria, virus, and algae by active oxygen substances to reach the effect of cleaning ballast water. The system has the automatic self-cleaning function to avoid the sediment of the organisms inside the facility, as a result, the stability and the reliability of the system is highly improved. OceanGuard™ Ballast Water Treatment System can be used in both rivers and oceans, and it has realized automatic control for running parameter, which guarantees the effect of inhibiting the invasive species. The alarm system will function automatically if any fault arises.

The IMO regulations
The IMO regulations will not affect all ships in the same way. Ballast water treatment will be phased in, with requirements for different ships arriving at different times. |
 |
|
The first phase will focus on new buildings. As stated in the most recent version of the IMO legislation, all new buildings constructed in 2009 or later will need to have an approved treatment system installed by 2012.
Existing vessels, i.e. ships constructed before 2009, will not have to treat their ballast water until 2014 or 2016, depending on their size. However, any ship without a treatment system will have to perform time-consuming and risky ballast water exchange. |
